    The Evidence Boxes

    In addition to the Research Database the World of the Vikings CD-ROM also contains the Evidence Boxes, which have been created for younger users from around age 8 to 14. Twelve boxes - each with a theme - have been filled with primary source material (over 850 colour images) selected from the main archive.

     

    The twelve themes cover every aspect of Viking life, from everyday domestic details to the great expeditions of war and trade. Each box is introduced by a narrated photo-essay, and has hypertext links to an atlas of the Viking world, a glossary, and full keyword searching. The Evidence Boxes provide an unparalleled and essential resource for classroom or school library study of nearly three centuries of European history, from around AD 800 to 1100.
